Our Saints tourists had a very busy day with a guided tour of Coimbra, the former capital of Portugal. The visited Coimbra University, which is located on the grounds of a former palace and is the oldest university in the country. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and thought to be the inspiration for one of the settings in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. The university is especially known for its library, the Biblioteca Joanina.
From Mr. Richard: “This is a group photo in front of the [former] Portuguese royal palace. The weather is once again off-and-on showers, but everyone is still smiling. We will have a very special stop in Fatima in the afternoon.”
Plans include a visit to the Batalha Monastery. Tonight, they will reach their final destination: Lisbon.
