In the fall of 8th grade, Saint Raphael Academy encourages students to officially begin the admissions process. Applicants should complete the following steps to ensure that the proper materials are submitted on time.

Late applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Call the Admissions Office at 401-723-8100 to discuss how to proceed.

1. Learn about Saint Raphael Academy on our website and at our fall events. Pre-registration is required for some events. See “Visit Us” for more information.

2. Submit the online application in the fall. The application fee is $40. We do the rest for you! The Admissions Office will request transcripts and a recommendation from the applicant’s current school. Late applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

3. Take the Catholic High School Entrance Test on the first or second Saturday in December. More information on how to register below.

4. Optional: Complete and submit the financial aid application through FACTS Tuition Management beginning on November 1. A financial aid offer will be included with the acceptance packet if the application is completed by the priority deadline of December 31.

5. Receive a decision at the end of January.

6. Return your enrollment paperwork and deposit by February 28.

Saint Raphael Academy also welcomes applications to grade 10 and 11 with either immediate or fall enrollment. Each situation is unique. Please call the Admissions Office (401-723-8100) to discuss your child’s situation. Transfer applicants do not take the entrance test; instead they will interview with the admissions committee.

Saint Raphael Academy is the most diverse Catholic high school in the state of Rhode Island. Our students come from a variety of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. Our international program has attracted students from Chile, China, Colombia, Guatemala, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, South Korea, Switzerland, and Vietnam. International students live in local home-stay situations, which has been shown to improve their English language skills and help them become immersed in American culture. If you are an international student interested in applying to Saint Raphael Academy, please initiate a conversation by emailing us at international@saintrays.org.

The international program exposes students to new cultures and enriches the diversity of the Academy, for both domestic and international students. If local families are interested in becoming host families, please contact the Admissions Office at 401-723-8100 or fill out our contact form.

The Academy admits academically qualified students of any race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students. All applicants are reviewed by the members of the Admissions Committee, and all admissions decisions are based on past and current grades, prior standardized test scores, and a recommendation from the applicant’s current school.

Required for all 8th grade applicants.

All 8th grade applicants must take the entrance test. The test will be administered at Saint Raphael Academy on Saturday, December 7 and 14, 2024, from 8:00 – 11:30am. Pencils and scrap paper, plus a drink and snack, will be provided. Calculators are not allowed on the exam.

Reserve your seat today by submitting the online SRA Application for Admission. If an applicant is applying to multiple schools, the applicant should take the Entrance Test at the high school that the parents most likely see their child attending. Test scores can be sent to multiple schools, and testers will indicate on the day of the test where scores should be sent.

The exam is the High School Placement Test (HSPT) and is published by the Scholastic Testing Service (STS). The exam consists of individual tests covering verbal ability, quantitative ability, reading comprehension, vocabulary, language arts, and mathematics.

Applicants applying to more than one Catholic high school can only take the exam once. Scores will be sent to the high schools the student specifies on exam day.

The Entrance Test results will be returned to applicants who take the exam at Saint Raphael Academy in December along with their decision letter.
