SRA Summer Readiness 2013
On August 1, 2013
Saint Raphael Academy’s Summer Readiness Program will begin on Monday, August 5, 2013 and conclude on Friday, August 16, 2013. (Due to the holiday, the program will not run on Monday, August 12, 2013. )
SRA Summer Readiness is a program designed for a specific group of incoming 9th grade students,* and will help to further cultivate their academic skills in Language Arts and Mathematics and help advance their organizational, time management, and study skills in preparation for the fall.
On Monday, August 5th, students should report to the East cafeteria (lower level) in East Building. The program will be held in the East building and its daily schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (The East Building is the brick building on the corner of Walcott Street and North Bend Street; it shares a parking lot with our Alumni Hall. Please click here for directions.)
Warm weather school uniforms are to be worn for the duration of the Readiness Program. All uniforms are to be purchased through Donnelly’s School Apparel. (Click here for more uniform information.) If the uniform has not been purchased, then a student should wear as close of an approximation to the warm weather uniform as is possible: a white or purple polo shirt, khaki slacks or shorts (no cargo slacks or shorts), and shoes or sneakers. Jeans are not permitted.
Students are expected to attend all sessions and be punctual each day. In the rare event that a student is absent or tardy, parents should contact Mr. Daniel Richard, Principal. You can leave Mr. Richard a message at 401.723.8100, extension 113, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, a note from the parent explaining the absence will be required when the student returns.
Students should have the following materials with them for the duration of the program: pencils with erasers, pens, a 3-ring, 1-inch binder, a notebook, and loose leaf paper; and for the Readiness English section, a copy of the summer reading book, Breaking Night, by Liz Murray.
At the conclusion of the Summer Readiness program, students will receive a final letter confirming successful completion of this program.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Richard at the contact information that appears above or contact the Admissions Office at 401-723-8100, extension 116.
*Students who are required to attend this program were notified of this with their acceptance letter.
