The scene at Lynch Arena after PSW Hockey captured the quarter-final series with an overtime goal from SRA junior, Nathan Duffy.

The Saint Raphael/Providence Country Day/ Wheeler School (PSW) Co-op hockey team is marching on to the semi-finals after a convincing two-game sweep over favored Prout. PSW will meet North Kingston this weekend for the right to play for the Division II State Title against the winner of the Cumberland versus Lincoln semi-final. Game 1 will be held at the URI Boss Arena at 6 p.m. on Friday and game 2 will be held at the Lynch Arena at 7 p.m. on Saturday. (Game 3 is only if needed and the time and location is TBD.)

From “Sweeping Success for SRA Co-op” in the March 10 edition of The Pawtucket Times by Terry Nau:

The way head coach Gary Leonard tells the story, his PCD/St. Raphael/Wheeler co-op team has been steeled in the cauldron of Division II-North all season long, fighting to stay competitive with unbeaten Cumberland and second-place Lincoln.

“We have only lost one game outside of our division” Leonard pointed out on Saturday night after Nathan Duffy’s goal in second overtime gave the PSW co-op a 4-3 victory.

The PSW squad enters this best-out-of 3 series with a great deal of confidence even though they were beaten last time they took the ice against North Kingston. The PSW defense has been playing well down the stretch, allowing goalie and SRA senior, Brandon Gribbin to control the defensive half of the ice. PSW also looks to build upon their success and to continue to ride the hot hands of SRA junior, Nathan Duffy, and SRA senior, Mark Carrara as they look to eliminate the Skippers and book a trip to the Division II State Championship.

Come out and support our Boys Co-op Team. Go SAINTS! And go PSW!
