Students will light the way down historic Walcott Street for the second year, as Saint Raphael Academy invites its families, alumni and community members to its second annual Saints Stroll on Saturday, October 22, 2016.  The adult event serves as the primary fundraiser for the private, Catholic, Lasallian school that has been a fixture on Walcott Street for nearly 100 years.

Saints Stroll is an evening filled with food, wine and musical entertainment by Peter Kelleher and Advanced Production Design of Warwick, and was created to showcase all of the wonderful additions to the historic Quality Hill campus.  The evening will begin with a champagne reception at 6 pm in the Navigant Credit Union Art Gallery at the Joseph and Blanche Coutu Theatre, home to Saints’ award-winning drama program.  A special alumni art show will be featured in the gallery. Guests will then be escorted by lantern-bearing students to the main event in Alumni Hall, the Academy’s state-of-the-art athletic facility.

Stop by the speakeasy-style cocktail bar featuring specially created offerings by Willa Van Nostrand of Little Bitte Artisanal Cocktails of Warren, and don’t miss an opportunity to stop by Mickey G’s Chowder & Clamcake truck for a cup of New England clam chowder and fried clam cakes. Dinner inside Alumni Hall will feature Italian delicacies from local favorite Spumoni’s Restaurant.  There will be plentiful raffle baskets as well as silent and live auction items to choose from, including a Newport getaway package with helicopter ride from Bird’s Eye View Helicopters of Middletown, or for Red Sox fans, a signed Manny Ramirez baseball.  Returning to the microphone for the second year will be Saints alum Harry Grigsby ’00, Providence College Friars basketball emcee and hip-hop vocalist (also known as Jon Hope).

SRA’s own Sean Larkin ’92, Rhode Island’s premier brewmaster, will provide guests with a sampling of his award-winning craft beers from Revival Brewing Company, and local artist Mike Bryce ’85 of Bryce Studio will feature his paintings of Rhode Island’s most coveted treasures and landmarks in a private exhibition right on campus.

A selection of sweet treats with French flair will finish the evening, generously provided by Ellie’s Bakery of Providence.

Saints Stroll promises to be an evening to sip, stroll and savor memories both old and new. Tickets are now available for $65 each.  Contact Mary Alexandre at Saint Raphael Academy at 401-723-8100 x 120 or email malexandre@saintrays.org, or visit the school website or the Saints Stroll Event Page on Facebook to purchase tickets online.
