Saints Boys Soccer Again Recognized with Academic Award
On October 21, 2016
The Saint Raphael Academy boys soccer team was recognized with the 2015-16 High School Team Academic Award from the National High School Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). This is the second consecutive year that the team has been recognized with this honor.
To qualify for the award, teams must have a combined GPA of at least a 3.25 for the entire academic year. The Saint Raphael Academy team had the highest GPA of all the New England schools awarded, with a 3.66, which was higher than last year’s 3.60.
The Saints team is also the only one from Rhode Island among the 389 high school soccer teams—and 138 boys teams—nationwide who also received the award.
The roster for the 2015-16 academic year includes: Derek DeLaHoz, Javir Loperena, Mike Rebello, Helpisis Genao, Patrick Bullen, Rene Ogni, Justin Jackson, Pablo Estrada, Max Rodriguez, Brady Thibault, Hector Padilla, Sebastian Romiro, Jerel Gomes, Brandon Reyes, Pablo Uribe, Jacob Manzano, Ben Senra, Cano Morales and Alvaro Roman.
The soccer team plays their final two games of the 2016-17 season on Tuesday, October 25, and Thursday, October 27. Thursday’s game will also recognize the seniors’ last game.
