While students and faculty were enjoying their summer vacation, the East Building at Saint Raphael Academy was getting a much-needed facelift. Originally St. Joseph’s Elementary School, the building was leased by SRA in 1975 as student enrollment increased, and it currently houses the theology, English, social studies and pastoral services departments.

All of the classrooms received a fresh coat of paint, and were decorated with either an inspirational quote or a cross motif featured on the wall. Many of the classrooms also had worn floors removed and replaced with new linoleum tiles. Lighting was also vastly improved with energy-efficient LED bulbs. The upgrades are expected to make a big difference in SRA’s energy costs.

and after!

and after!

Behind the scenes, the old boiler was converted to a new energy-efficient gas boiler, and thermostats were placed in each classroom to better control temperatures.

As an added bonus, we expect the refreshed East Building will also inspire the students to learn even more, study harder and pray like champions (see below)!

Our sincere thanks to our benefactors and alums, whose donations made this possible, and to E. Turgeon Construction Corporation for their assistance with this project.
