The Joseph and Blanche Coutu Theater, home of Saint Raphael Academy’s award-winning drama program, received a 2015 Design Award from Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

RI Monthly Award_2The project was recognized with a Bronze Level Award in the Interior Design, Commercial/Corporate category. The project consisted of a renovation of the circa-1925 Dennis M. Lynch, Jr. Memorial Gymnasium into a state-of-the-art, 300-seat performance space and art gallery. Saint Raphael Academy worked with Vision 3 Architects of Providence and E. Turgeon Construction of Cranston on the renovation, which was completed in January 2014. The building features the 1,600-sq.-ft. Navigant Credit Union art gallery, box office, storage and set-design space.

The Joseph and Blanche Coutu Theater is featured in the October issue of Rhode Island Monthly. The theater will be open during Saints Stroll, the Academy’s annual fundraiser, on October 24, 2015. The drama program at Saint Raphael Academy, winner of 19 state drama festivals, will perform “Little Women” in the Coutu Theater on December 3-6, 2015.
