Where Do We Serve?
The Lasallian Youth service project program offers students the opportunity to be of service in the local community. Whether students prefer spending time with older adults, serving meals or working with younger students, Lasallian Youth service projects are the ideal way to reach out in service to others.
Service is completely voluntary! Students can choose to take part in one service project or volunteer at a particular site, or variety of sites, many times throughout the year. Some Saint Raphael students make regular commitments to particular projects and volunteer all year, while other students volunteer for one particular season or as they have time in any given week.
Sign-up is available throughout the year but especially during Lasallian Youth recruitment week.
We have a variety of one-time events throughout the year, but primarily we focus on after-school service projects on weekdays.
Participants on this team make a commitment of service for an extended period of time during the school year and, in some cases, throughout the summer months.
- Holy Family Soup Kitchen
- After-school programs at local schools
- Daycare facilities
- Nursing home visitation
In addition to ongoing service projects, students also participate in social justice events such as:
- Thanksgiving/Christmas baskets
- Homeless Sleep Out
- Charity walks
- Pro-Life: Gabriel Project
- Lasallian Twinning with our sister school in Kenya, Africa
- CRS Fair Trade
- CRS Operation Rice Bowl
- Legislative Advocacy Project
Pro-Life: Gabriel Project: Students participate in the annual Pro-Life March in Washington, DC.
Saint Raphael Academy Lasallian Youth are invited to be part of service trips.
At Saint Raphael Academy, the Service Trips are primarily opportunities to serve others, but are also opportunities for students to live, pray and learn as small communal groups of 8-10 students. We have limited space on these trips that are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
The 2014-2015 Service Trip will be to the De La Salle School in Freeport, NY
