boys soccer team 2014-15

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has recognized the Saint Raphael Academy boys’ soccer team with a 2014-15 Boys High School Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2014-15 school year. The Academy was one of only two Rhode Island high schools named to the list.

NSCAA annually recognizes high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their performance on the field. A total of 395 soccer teams— 149 boys teams and 246 girls teams— throughout the United States have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2014-15 academic school year. To qualify for this award, the team must have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The SRA boys’ soccer team exceeded this minimum average by posting a team GPA of 3.60.

“Saint Raphael Academy is extremely proud of our scholar athletes,” said assistant coach Marc Thibault.

The team roster for the 2014-15 academic year included: Kelton Dos Santos, Santiago Durango, Rene Ogni, Brady Thibault, Myles Lefebvre, Pablo Estrada, Zhengliang Lan, Julian Borges, Mike Mitchell, Ray Aquino, Justin Jackson, Patrick Bullen, Derek DeLaHoz, Steven Parker, Samuel Zalk, Diego Bautista, Jarell Gomes, Steve Gaunt, Jeff Cifuentes, Louis Francisco, Bryce Gillis, Brandon Reyes, Joe DaCunha, William Deng, Ryan Tu, Deqi Liu and Gavin Zhang. Head coach for the team is Frank Balcarcel.
