More than just a
typical high school...
Saint Raphael Academy is one of the finest Catholic,
college preparatory high schools in the area. It boasts a 12-to-1
student-to-teacher ratio, 47 state titles to its credit, and
triumph in 12 out of the last 16 state drama festivals. The Academy
has prepared over 7,000 young women and men for some of the best
colleges and universities in the country, and the Academy's
graduates have gone onto become the foremost professionals in
business, law, medicine, education, science, and engineering.
But the Academy is more than just your typical high school. Its
safe, family-like atmosphere offers students a place they can call
home and a place where life-long friendships can be made. Its
Catholic identity reminds students that its about more than just
their GPA. And its dedicated faculty never allows a student to be
just another name on the attendance
list.
To learn more about how the Academy is more than just a typical high
school, please view the
2009-2010 Admissions Fact Sheets.

Visit our historic
campus...
One of the most distinct features of the Academy is
that it is a campus-style school located in the historic,
residential neighborhood commonly known as the Quality Hill District
of Pawtucket, RI.
Academy students do not remain in the same building all day for
their classes; instead, in between classes students walk across a
beautiful campus and from building to building, much like
at a college or university.
If you missed both of our Fall Open Houses, but still would like a personal
tour of our campus, please contact Shawn McKay, Director of
Admissions (at 401-723-8100, ext. 116, or via
email), to schedule your appointment today.

The best way to learn more about the Academy is to
spend a day "shadowing" one of our current student ambassadors. The
Saint For A Day program allows applicants the opportunity to
experience a day in the life of an Academy student, to ask
questions, and to realize that the Academy is more than just a
typical high school. All interested students and applicants are
encouraged to visit as a Saint For A Day.
To schedule your Saint For A Day visit, please contact Shawn McKay,
Director of Admissions (at 401-723-8100, ext. 116, or via
email) and consult the
Saint For A Day
Visitor's Guide for more information about this program.
Please note: if there is any delay in the start of school due to
weather conditions, the time at which an applicant should arrive for
their Saint For A Day visit will be delayed by the same amount of
time school is delayed. Put simply, if the start of school is delayed by
one hour, you should arrive for your Saint For A Day visit one
hour later, as well. Obviously, if school is canceled, an
applicant's Saint For A Day visit will need to be rescheduled. If
the start of school is delayed or if school is cancelled, a specific
announcement for Saint Raphael Academy will be broadcast via radio
(WPRO and WHJJ) and television (stations 6, 10, & 12).

Saint Raphael Academy is currently accepting
applications for grades 9, 10, and 11.
The Academy admits academically qualified students
of any race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin to all rights,
privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made
available to students. All applicants are reviewed by the members of
the Admissions Committee and all admissions decisions are based on
prior academic performance, standardized test scores, and a
recommendation from the applicant's current school.
Applicants for the Class of 2014:
If you are currently a student in grade 8 and are
interested in applying for acceptance into the Academy's Class of
2014, which begins grade 9 in the Fall of 2010, the application
process is relatively simple:
-
First, download, print, complete, and mail in
the
Application for Admission to the Admissions Office at Saint
Raphael Academy (123 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860).
Please ensure that you include the $25 application fee, which
covers all costs associated with the processing of an
application and the Entrance Test, and the final page of the
application, the Transcript Release Statement.
-
Then, take the Catholic High
School Entrance Test.
Once a complete application for admission is
received and the applicant has taken the Entrance Test, the
Admissions Office will then request the applicant's transcript and a
recommendation from the applicant's current school. Once the applicant's complete transcript and
recommendation are received, the applicant will be reviewed by the
Admissions Committee.
Letters indicating the Admissions Committee's
decision will be sent out on January 29, 2010 for applicants to the
Class of 2014.
There is no deadline for application into the Class of 2014, but in
order to be notified of the Admissions Committee's decision on
January 29, 2010, the application must be received by January 14,
2010. Applications received after January 14, 2010 will require at
at least 10 business days before a decision is rendered.
Please note, that, while all applicants are automatically considered
for merit-based scholarships during the admissions process, if you
wish to be considered for need-based financial aid, you must
complete a separate need-based financial aid application. More
information can be found here.
Applicants for the Class of 2013, 2012, or
2011:
If you are a student interested in transferring to
the Academy for grade 9, 10, or 11 the application process is
simple.
Just download, print, complete, and mail in the
Application for Admission to the Admissions Office (123 Walcott
Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860). Please ensure that you include the $25
application fee, which covers all costs associated with the
processing of an application, and the final page of the application,
the Transcript Release Statement.*
Once a complete application is received, the Admissions Office will
request a copy of the applicant's transcript and a recommendation
from the applicant's current school.
When a complete transcript and recommendation are received, the
Admissions Office will then contact the applicant to schedule an
interview with the applicant and members of the Admissions
Committee. After the conclusion of the interview the applicant will
be notified of the Admissions Committee's Decision.
Please note, that, while all applicants are automatically considered
for merit-based scholarships during the admissions process, if you
wish to be considered for need-based financial aid, you must
complete a separate need-based financial aid application. More
information can be found here.
*In addition to filing an application for admission, an applicant
interested in transferring into grade 9 must also take the
Catholic High School Entrance Test.
All applicants for grade 9 must take the Catholic High
School Entrance Test
in order to be considered for acceptance. The form of the test administered is
the High School Placement Test (HSPT).
It is recommended that all applicants take the Entrance Test at the
Academy. To schedule an appointment to take the test at Saint
Raphael Academy, please contact Shawn McKay, Director of
Admissions (at 401-723-8100, ext. 116, or via
email).
If you are scheduled to take the Entrance Test at Saint
Raphael Academy the
Applicant's Guide to the Entrance Test will provide you all the
information you may need about the test date (where the test is
being held, how to get there, what to bring, what to expect, etc.).
Prior to your testing appointment, please ensure you submit an
Application for Admission and the $25 Application Fee to the
Admissions Office.
If time does not allow for an
Application to be filed prior to the test date, please bring your completed
Application
and the $25 Application Fee with you on the date of testing.
If you are taking the Entrance Test at another Catholic
high school, please be sure to list the Academy as one of your
top-three choices for high school on the test date to ensure that
your scores are forwarded to the Academy.
If an applicant takes the Entrance Test at Saint Raphael
Academy, results will be received by mid-January in the Admissions
Office. These results will be automatically forwarded to all
applicants, who listed Saint Raphael Academy as their first-choice
high school, as an attachment to the Admissions Committee's decision
letter, which will be sent out on January 29, 2010.
